The National Mine Safety Administration Key Laboratory of Transparent Geology and Digital Twin Technology for Mines has proposed the concept of building a “dual geological safeguard” system for mine safety and, for the first time, has established a structured model. According to the research team led by Professor Hu Tianbao of the China Coal Geology Administration, the “dual geological safeguard” framework for mine safety consists of a transparent geological support system and a hidden disaster-inducing factor investigation and control system. The initiative focuses on the high-quality development of mining exploration technologies and equipment, promoting the engineering application of multiple innovative technologies. Among these, geopolariton tomography technology has been implemented in projects in Shaanxi, Shandong, Qinghai, and other regions, achieving a vertical detection error of no more than 2.25% for strata shallower than 3500 m. The AI-integrated multi-parameter measurement-while-drilling platform for mining enables underground dynamic formation testing, real-time lithology and fluid identification, and accurate monitoring of underground operating conditions. In addition, rod-less precise directional fast drilling technology and equipment can meet the demand for long-distance, multi-dimensional underground exploration under complex working conditions in a single drilling run. Professor Hu Tianbao stated that the construction of the “dual geological safeguard” system aims to systematically enhance the geological safety level of mines and provide solid support for the intelligent and green development of the mining industry. It is one of the key research directions in the laboratory’s development plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan period and has already been reviewed and approved by an academic committee led by academicians. It is reported that the National Mine Safety Administration Key Laboratory of Transparent Geology and Digital Twin Technology for Mines is jointly established by the National Mine Safety Administration and the China Coal Geology Administration, serving as a high-end scientific research platform dedicated to mine safety nationwide.
